Why am I scoring low in spelling?

Another category of enabling skills is spelling. This is straightforward to understand. Any written communication has to be free from spelling mistakes. The spelling score is determined from all the sections of the exam that require writing. These include an essay and summary writing, summarising spoken task and etc.

The important thing to be aware of is that all the sections of the PTE Academics interrelate. Therefore improving on one of the following: grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing improves the other skills.

Tips to improve the spelling

 Writing helps one to get accustomed to using a different type of words whether they are simple or complex. Moreover, the test taker can easily assess her spelling mistakes or improvement during writing.

 Beware of social media “lingo” – As It has been said, PTE Academics only accept the formal language. Therefore, “gonna”, “wanna”, “y’all”, “finna” and etc are not appropriate words. Get comfortable with proper words spelling.

 Proofreading – For every answer that involves reading, remember to read your work in order to check grammatical errors and spelling mistakes before submitting or clicking next.

 When practising your essay writing, turn off the spelling checker just so you can assess and correct your own mistakes without the assistance of the computer.
