Examination policies

The road that leads to PTE Academics is long and one must be updated with the necessary information about the examination. There are rules and regulations to follow for registration, cancellation, rescheduling and other similar aspects.

Cancellation policies

PTE Academics cancellation process is hassle-free and stress-free. You don’t need a medical proof or any other form of proof to cancel your test. If after booking a test you wish to cancel, you can claim a full refund of your registration fee if you cancel 14 days before the test date. In addition, when cancelling in less than 14 days but more than 7 days you get a 50% refund. There is no refund for cancellation processed in less 7 days.

Rescheduling policies

If you reschedule the test 14 days before the test date you get a full refund of your examination registration, in addition, you get a partial refund for cancelling 7 days before the examination. However, cancellation processed less than 7 days may results in forfeit the registration fee.

Rebooking and refunds due to illnesses

If due to illnesses you miss the examination, you can apply to reschedule the test within 14 full calendar days of the original test date. You need a medical certificated to accompany your application. The rescheduling may be processed free-of-charge or at a reduced cost. However, be aware that acceptance of your application may be declined or accepted. NB!! Rescheduling of test more than once is prohibited for medical reasons.

If you are rescheduling requested 14 or more days before the tests please refer to cancellation policies. In addition, for those who booked their test date using voucher have to refer back to your supplier to process refunds.

Test centre policies

On the day of the test, the student is advised to arrive 30 minutes before the test starts for administration and security process. Also, the test centre requires a personal identification document (see Standard ID Policy) for further details. Arriving 15 minutes later than your scheduled appointment may result in exam prohibition and forfeiting the registration fee.

Personal belongings except identification document are not allowed in the test venue. Safety storage for personal belonging is provided but the test centre is not liable for any materials that go missing

Rescoring policies

If you have queries regarding your score you can request a rescore but due to the nature of PTE Academics your score is unlikely to change, however, if it does change, there is a likelihood of scoring lower marks. PTE Academics is scored automatically and the rescoring goes through the same process. The student must be aware that only the speaking and open-ended written response are eligible for rescoring.  Open-ended written response are the types that have more than one response such as summaries.

Rescored marks replaces the previous marks even if the score declined. Request for rescoring can be ordered from Pearson Customer Services 14 days after receiving your score. Since you are allowed to take as many tests as you like, rescoring is plausible for the latest recent test score.

Booking test date

You can book your test date two days before the test date paying a standard normal registration price. Test booking within 2 days liable to additional late fees.

Standard ID Policy

The accepted identification document depends on whether you are taking the test in a country of your citizenship or outside the country of your citizenship. Passport, primary ID and other forms are allowed but make proper research about this.

The test taker must further be aware of name changes or changing identification document that was used during registration. If the ID details don’t match the details on the provided during the registration, you will be prohibited to take the exam. Photocopies are not accepted only the original ID document.

Test Takers with disabilities

A test taker who requires special services can request during registration. The special services include access to wheelchair, adjustable chairs or desk. The request doesn’t need approval, it is to make sure that it can be met. Also for students who need comfort aid such as neck braces, pillows/cushions to rest broken limb don’t need approval.  If you have doubt about any of the details provided it is always safe to contact Pearson customer service and ask.
